5 Olympic and 15 world champions

The meeting of Golden Spike Ostrava starts in two days with the attendance of five Olympic champions, 15 world champions and 12 European champions. The audience may look forward to currently fastest man on Earth Christian Coleman, two times Olympic champion in javelin throw Barbora Špotáková or defending world champion in pole vault Sam Kendricks.

American Christian Coleman is the star of 200m track; Coleman is silver medallist from the last world championship and record-holder in the world indoor championship. Coleman will challenge Olympic medallist Andre de Grass, Czech Pavel Maslák and European indoor champion from Slovakia Ján Volko. In the 100m race, the battle is expected between de Grass, South African Akani Simbine, American Mike Rodgers and Filippo Tortu from Italy.

Men’s 800m race will be another peak of Golden Spike 2019. Six times European champion, world indoor champion and silver medallist from the last London World Championships Adam Kszczot from Poland will arrive. His rival will be Samuel Tefera from Ethiopia, world indoor champion of 1500m. Pole vault will be fight against world champion Sam Kendricsk with athletes from Poland – Piotr Lisek and Pawel Wojciechowski.

Radek Juška will challenge Juan Miguel Echevarria in long jump competition, Luvo Manyonga will watch the battle just like a fan because of his injury from Diamond League, Rabat. In shot put competition, world champion Tom Walsh will meet Michal Haratyk, Konrad Bukowiecki and Tomáš Staněk.

Shaunae Miller-Uibo is the main star in women’s start list. She will attack world record 35,30s on 300m track. The world record-holder and Olympic champion Barbora Špotáková decided to start in Ostrava last week after meeting in Rome. Together with Nikola Ogrodníková she will challenge Olympic champion Sara Kolak. Women’s hammer competition will take place at the main stadium for the first time. American Gwen Berry, Chinese Zhang Weng, Anita Wlodarczyk and Kateřina Šafránková will measure their strength.

The audience may look forward to battle in the men’s javelin throw – home star Jakub Vadlejch will fight with bronze medallist Magnus Kirt. The world champion Johannes Vetter will be missed due to his injury from Oslo.

In 400m track, Steven Gardiner and Kenny Bednarek will compete. Karsten Warholm will not appear in this competition as he injured his thigh in Oslo. Men’s mile will be challenge between Czech Filip Sasínek, Jakub Holuša and Marcin Lewandowski.

Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay promises to attack her own record of the meeting in 1500m race. In the women’s high jump, world number one Maria Lasickiene will try to break the record of meeting 205cm. In the opening part, Czech record relay 4x100m will run against teams from South Africa, USA and Saudi Arabia.
